Mister Babatunde Mohammed named Welfare and Empowerment Committee Chairperson

NAB Lagos clarified that Engr. Taiwo Amao ceased to be chairman in April 2025 and stated that all official engagement with the chapter should go through Barrister Kazeem Babatunde Safiu and the state secretariat.

The chapter issued a public clarification after receiving claims that Engr. Taiwo Amao, also known as Lion Taiwo, was still acting as chairman.

According to the notice, Engr. Taiwo Amao ceased to be chairman in April 2025 and no longer has authority to represent, transact, or act on behalf of the association.

The statement identifies Barrister Kazeem Babatunde Safiu as the legitimate and recognized Chairman of the Nigeria Association of the Blind, Lagos Chapter.

It further directs partners, stakeholders, and members of the public to route official dealings through the chairman and the NAB Lagos State Secretariat.

Pre-White Cane and Safety Day event brings training, games, and connection

Held on October 11, 2025 at the chapter compound in Yaba, the Pre-White Cane and Safety Day event combined safety education, mental health discussion, first aid training, tactile games, and shared meals.

On October 11, 2025, the Nigeria Association of the Blind, Lagos State Chapter, hosted a Pre-White Cane and Safety Day event at its compound in Yaba.

The event centered on awareness about the white cane, independence, and safety for persons with visual impairment while creating space for members to connect with one another.

Members also received practical learning opportunities and took part in activities designed to build confidence, community, and shared experience.

  • Mental health talk delivered by Dr. Obatomi Alalade on issues affecting persons with visual impairment.
  • First aid training that covered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and responses to seizures.
  • Tactile games including chess, Scrabble, dominoes, and Ludo, alongside refreshments and social time.

The chapter thanked the White Cane and Safety Day Committee 2025 for organizing the event and encouraging members to learn, engage, and support one another.
