The Executives and entire members of the Nigeria Association of the Blind, Lagos State Chapter, heartily congratulate our dear member, Taiwo Rukayat Suleimon, on her historic achievement at the World Sambo Cup held in Yerevan, Armenia.
We are overjoyed and immensely proud that she has become the first female blind sambist in the world to win a gold medal at an international event organised by the International Sambo Federation.
Her victories over opponents from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan in the women's 54kg category have written her name in sporting history and lifted the flag of Lagos, Nigeria, and Africa on the global stage.
As a committed member of this chapter and a Lagos State judo champion, she continues to show what is possible when determination meets opportunity. She has defied the odds and proven that disability is not inability. Her courage, discipline, and excellence inspire blind and visually impaired people in our community, especially young girls who can now see a champion who looks like them.
We join His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and all well-meaning Nigerians in celebrating her. For NAB Lagos, this victory is deeply personal because she trained among us, represents us, and reminds the world of the talent within the blind community.
