On October 11, 2025, the Nigeria Association of the Blind, Lagos State Chapter, hosted a Pre-White Cane and Safety Day event at its compound at 3 Jibowu Street, off Ikorodu Road, Yaba.

The event centered on awareness about the white cane, independence, and safety for persons with visual impairment while creating space for members to connect with one another.

Members also received practical learning opportunities and took part in activities designed to build confidence, community, and shared experience.

  • Mental health talk delivered by Dr. Obatomi Alalade on issues affecting persons with visual impairment.
  • First aid training that covered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and responses to seizures.
  • Tactile games including chess, Scrabble, dominoes, and Ludo, alongside refreshments and social time.

The chapter thanked the White Cane and Safety Day Committee 2025 for organizing the event and encouraging members to learn, engage, and support one another.
