About NAB Lagos
The Nigeria Association of the Blind, Lagos State Chapter (NAB Lagos) is the premier umbrella body dedicated to advocating for the rights and promoting the interests of blind and partially sighted individuals who live, work, and study in Lagos State.
We believe that blindness should never be a barrier to excellence. Our association exists to bridge the gap between disability and opportunity, ensuring that every visually impaired person in Lagos can lead a life of dignity, productivity, and social inclusion.

A legacy of grassroots advocacy
Organised to reach communities across Lagos.
With a documented history of community organising dating back to before October 2012, NAB Lagos has grown into a force for social change. The chapter operates on a grassroots model so members can be represented regardless of their location.

Local Government Chapters
Functional chapters across local government areas, with the goal of active representation in all 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State.

Women Wing
A dedicated arm focused on gender-specific advocacy, maternal health awareness, economic empowerment, and challenges faced by blind and partially sighted women.

Youth Wing
Supporting students, young professionals, and other blind youths through mentorship, social integration, and career development.

Volunteer Corps
A community of sighted allies and professionals who support activities through sighted guiding, administration, and specialised skills.

Standing and Ad hoc Committees
Specialised groups managing education, employment, sports, ethics and discipline, welfare, rehabilitation, and other organisational functions.

The central governing body providing strategic oversight so wings and chapters align with the association’s goals.

NAB Lagos is governed by an elected State Executive Committee. Elections are held every four years, providing a mandate for leaders to champion the interests of the community.
The leadership structure includes executive officers, senatorial coordinators for Lagos Central, Lagos East, and Lagos West, and committee chairpersons who lead specialised initiatives.

Advocacy & Rights Protection
We serve as a watchdog and partner to government, working closely with the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs to support full implementation of the Lagos State Special People’s Law.

Rehabilitation & Foundational Skills
We promote Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, post-sight-loss adjustment, peer support, and counselling for visually impaired people and their families.

Digital Inclusion & Capacity Building
We prioritise computer literacy and assistive technology training so members can compete and participate in a modern digital society.

Economic Empowerment
We facilitate access to empowerment schemes, grants, and skill-acquisition programmes that support members on the path to self-reliance.

We provide guidance to corporate and public entities on making physical and digital environments accessible.
